Bioinformatics Technology Group Leader

This three-year appointment provides a unique opportunity for an established researcher within bioinformatics, statistics or mathematics to lead a new Bioinformatics technology group. This group provides support for the growing theoretical and computational needs of wet laboratory based research with an emphasis on supporting collaborative research in both scientific and clinical fields. Through active participation in the development of group research proposals and proactive identification of collaborative opportunities through liaison and networking both nationally and internationally, you will ensure that our researchers have access to the highest standards of bioinformatics expertise, enabling them to optimise the outcomes of their work. This is a joint appointment within the Faculties of Medicine and Health and Biologial Sciences and provides the opportunity to work in collaboration with a wide range of senior biomedical and health researchers across the University of Leeds and Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, including leaders of established research programmes e.g. Cancer Research UK Centre. As well as leading and developing this technology group, there is scope within the post for you to actively pursue your own research interests. You will have a PhD in a relevant subjects and a track-record of research in (bio)informatics, statistics or mathematics. To be successful you will need to demonstrate vision and strong leadership capability in taking forward this exciting new initiative. The post is available for three years.
