BACKGROUND: Missouri State University is accepting applications for a Research Specialist II for Center for Grapevine Biotechnology at the Mountain Grove Campus. RESPONSIBILITIES: Carrying out advanced research projects by using modern biotechnology, genomics and bioinformatics tools to support and accomplish research projects assigned by Principle Investigator; accomplishing assigned duties independently, effectively, and creatively under general supervision; conducting comparative genomics analysis of grapevines; processing large volumes of sequence data; constructing relational database for the genomics project; analyzes and publishes results. REQUIREMENTS: - Master’s degree in a scientific discipline is required. Master of Science in Bioinformatics and two years of working experience in Bioinformatics or Ph.D. majoring in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology is preferred. PREFERENCES: - Substantial skills and experience in processing large volumes of genome-size sequences, assembling whole-genome sequences, gene annotation, comparative genomics, and relational database - Strong background in using informatics tools for sequence analysis, processing, and storing in a UNIX operating system TERMS: Grant-funded LOCALE: Center for Grapevine Biotechnology, William H.
